"Solidarietà non è materia di delega ad un gruppo, ad una minoranza di eletti, ma protagonismo coraggioso di una cittadinanza attiva"

Our proposal

"Coming to 2011": our proposal for the European Year of Volunteering 2011.
2011 will celebrate both the European Year of Volunteering and the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. This is a unique opportunity to mobilize Italian volunteering and to shape a network between civil society organizations.
The "Coming to 2011" committee, promoted by the Italian Volunteering Movement (Mo.V.I.), is now promoting an intensive campaign organized by successive phases:
1) In the first stage (January-April 2011) we will look at the historical development of the Italian tradition through the lens of active citizenship, by means of biographical sketches. As a result, we will restore a more complete and exhaustive picture of modern solidarity.
2) In the second stage (May-August 2011) we will provide an analysis of the fundamental features of voluntary activity and social awareness. The basic idea is that all volunteer organisations share a common cohesive and inclusive social view, regardless of their specific missions: a confirmation of our principles is crucial to inspire our actions.
3) In the final stage (September-December 2011) we will focus on the actual and tangible aspects of volunteering and give voice to the best practices put into effect. The aim is to show how the very same principles can be instantiated by complex and different projects: their degree of innovation, their ability to involve young volunteers, their impact on the social community make the difference.
